Every Software Entry Now Credits Its Authors

Software entries used to record an author or organization as a plain line of text. That’s no longer the case — authors and organizations are now their own entries in the archive, each with a short bio, a website, and, where we could confidently confirm one, a link to their GitHub presence or Wikipedia article.

Click through from a software entry to, say, the Blender Foundation, and you’ll see every other entry in the archive credited to them, not just the one you started on. It’s a small change, but it turns a flat list of names into something closer to a real record of who built what.

We were deliberately conservative filling these in: a link is only attached where it could be reasonably confirmed, not guessed at from a similar-looking name. Several entries are still missing a website or an external reference simply because we didn’t want to assert something we couldn’t check.
