The GNU Image Manipulation Program — a free raster graphics editor for photo retouching, image composition and digital painting, scriptable in Script-Fu and Python. Its development in the mid-1990s gave birth to the GTK toolkit, the foundation on which the entire GNOME desktop was later built.
